The aim of the EU4UA project is to enhance capacities of Ukrainian legal schools in equipping students with skills and knowledge, which are necessary for European and Euroatlantic integration of Ukraine by highly professional teachers and in accrodance with modernized curricula in basic legal disciplines, as well as disseminating the impact wider on civic and political environment.

The VII Winter School in European Studies took place online from February 17th to 21st, 2025. Over 45 participants from across Ukraine attended the event, which centered on the legal and political aspects of European integration. Special emphasis was placed on the current state of EU-Ukraine cooperation and the legal and political dimensions of Ukraine's accession.

VII WINTER SCHOOL IN EUROPEAN STUDIES

The VII Winter School in European Studies took place online from February 17th to 21st, 2025. From April 25 - to 27, 2025, the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv team took part in the prestigious international competition on EU law—the Central and Eastern Europe Moot Competition (https://ceemc.co.uk/ceemc-2025-warsaw/), which was held in Warsaw and co-hosted by the Faculty of Law & Administration (Warsaw University) and the Supreme Administrative Court of Poland. The team consisting of Tetiana Zhelekhovska, Anastasia Myglias (3rd year, Faculty of International Relations), and Diana Onishchak (4th year, Faculty of International) presented the legal position of the parties in a mock trial before a hypothetical international tribunal, which addressed iissues in international and European law.

On February 6, 2024 the EU4UA Academic Board approved the professional development program for representatives of law schools covering diverse aspects of the EU law application.

On December 30, 2024 the EU4UA Academic Board convened to discuss the survey results regarding teaching and learning needs by project stakeholders in the areas of European and Euroatlantic integration and create the Interuniversity Commission on modernization of teaching programs for law schools.

2023

Project activities in 2023

On December 15, 2023 the EU4UA Working Group with the task to create the professional development program for the teaching staff of the Ukrainian project partners was established. During its first meeting the Working Group discussed the survey, which is planned to conduct among the academic staff of the participating institutions for identification of the training needs.  The survey results will be used to formulate the professional development program for the teaching staff, which is planned to be conducted in the spring semester 2023/24.

On November 24, 2023 at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun the kick-off meeting under the project EU4UA was held in the blended format. During the kick-off meeting the activities for the next project year were discussed as well as the EU4UA Academic Board was formed. UESA President Oksana Holovko-Havrysheva was nominated to the EU4UA Academic Board.

On November 16, 2023 Oksana Holovko-Havrysheva, the UESA President participated at the presentation of the Erasmus+ “Modernization of Legal Education for the Support of European and Euro-Atlantic Intergration of Ukraine” , which took place in the Mirror Hall of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Serhiy Riznyk, (vice-rector for International Affairs), Olena Boryslavska (project coordinator) and the professors of the Law School of the Lviv University highlighted the importance of the project for educating legal experts in European and Euroatlantic Affairs. Dr. Oksana Holovko-Havrysheva stressed that this project is immensly important for Ukraine as a candidate country and offers for young generations of lawyers in Ukraine the opportunity to become experts in different areas of legal regulation of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration processes.

On September 14, 2023 Oksana Holovko-Havrysheva, the UESA President participated at the preparatory meetining of the Erasmus+ “Modernization of Legal Education for the Support of European and Euro-Atlantic Intergration of Ukraine”, which took place at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in the course of the preparation of the grant agreement. Serhiy Riznyk, (vice-rector for International Affairs) focused on the importance of this project for Ukraine. Olena Boryslavska (project coordinator) presented the main idea of the project, highlighted planned activities and introduced the consortium members:  Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Poland), Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (Ukraine), Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University (Ukraine), Yaroslav Mudryy National Law University (Ukraine), Zaporizhzhia National University (Ukraine) and Ukrainian European Studies Association (Ukraine) and the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv as the project coordinator. Dr. Oksana Holovko-Havrysheva pointed out the importance of the legal community on the way towards the full EU membership for Ukraine.
